January 20, 2014 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Mr. Forhad Hossain Bipu (from Adarsha Pharmacy, Lakshmipur) and Global Communication Center of Grmeen Communications in order to provide healthcare services at Ramganj Upazila, Lakshmipur under the brand name of “GramHealth”. Ms. Nazneen Sultana (Managing Director, Grameen Communications) has signed the agreement on behalf of GCC. Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam Maruf (Consultant, GCC) and Mr. Abdullah Al Emran (Senior Expert - Business Development, GCC) were also present during the event. Under this agreement, the inhabitants of Ramganj Upazila will be able to get the basic health checkup services of GramHealth Portable Health Clinic along with doctors’ consultancy through advance telemedicine in their neighborhood whenever they want. The telemedicine services will be supported by GCC.
Previously, a Health Checkup Service Delivery team comprising of three Health Assistants and a Team Manager has been trained up to deliver the Portable Health Clinic Services to the rural community of Ramganj. The training session took place through July 20 – 24, 2014. Two Health Assistants from Global Communication Center have conducted the training; Mr. Partha Pratim Ghosh (Information Management Specialist, GCC) have supervised the whole training process. The participants were given hands on training on using the health checkup devices of the Portable Health Box. They have also learnt the GramHealth System in order to create digitized health profile with all the health checkup records of the patients they are going to serve. The team will be working throughout the Unions of Ramganj Upazila under Laxmipur District. This is an initiative of the GramHealth Portable Health Clinic project of Global Communication Center in collaboration with local entrepreneurs.
