Health Checkup Program for School Children under Hiroshima University-Grameen Communications Research Study Project at Ekhlaspur, Chandpur


Under the joint research study of Hiroshima University, Japan, and Grameen Communications, Bangladesh a health checkup program was carried out by Global Communication Center (GCC) from 9 October - 4 November 2021. The research study aims to provide health checkup services to the school children of Class I – V in pre-selected 4 schools of Matlab North under Chandpur district of Bangladesh. 604 primary school children of age between 5 – 16 years received healthcare services at FREE of COST. According to the research protocol, baseline data have been collected from 604 school children throughout the four consecutive weeks.

 

The students got basic health checkups like height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, SPO2, MUAC test, skin fold test (triceps, sub-scapular), vision test, blood test (hemoglobin, glucose), urinary sugar, urinary protein, and stool test for helminth. Finally, the students were rewarded with some attractive T-shirts as gifts for voluntarily participating in this study.
