October 27, 2020 – During 18 – 21, October 2020, GCC has organized a 4-days long PHC general health checkup program at Chhaygaon, Shariatpur under Mother and Child Healthcare (MCH) Project, maintaining public health and safety regulations for COVID-19 issued by Bangladesh Government. A team of 7 members from GCC office, Dhaka participated in this program to provide healthcare services to the pre-selected female participants, as well as newly interested participants of Chhaygaon under MCH project. This time, PHC healthcare service was given to a total of 314 participants with doctor consultancy support. The health camp was conducted on October 18 – 19, at Kazi Bari in Ward no-4 and October 20 – 21 at Kazi Didar Box Madrasa in Ward no-2. There was a special focus on pregnant women to be surveyed so that they can get the available facilities of MCH regular health checkups under this project. 19 newly confirmed pregnant women were found during this program and they are being kept recorded for further MCH follow-up checkups on regular basis in every month. The objective of the health campaign was to provide annual healthcare services to 363 previously surveyed female participants.
The program aimed to create awareness on COVID-19 among participants living in Chhaygaon Union and promote the importance of preventive & maternity healthcare. Through this program, some participants got their health status poor but they did not know of it before as they did not go through any thorough health checkup in the recent past. Also, some of the participants couldn’t visit the hospital for health checkups for the COVID-19 situation. The participants remarked this as a very useful initiative and expressed a great appreciation for the program. They expected to have such programs again in the future also.
